Who We Are
Black Women’s Coalition (BWC) is a collective of Black women who are directly impacted by the loss of loved ones to gun violence and are committed to fighting for change. BWC is rooted in rich cultural traditions of healing and family centered engagement and well-being practice. BWC builds authentic relationships and leverages social and political connections to reduce violence, heal and restore our communities. BWC centers the healing and well-being of Black families and elevates the voices of Black women who have a deeply vested interest in the survival of ALL of our children, families and community culture.

This coalition relies on the rich tradition and power of mothers; our storytelling power, social and political power to reduce violence, heal and restore our communities. We have a historical role and vested interest in the survival of our children, families and community culture. Black children are the seeds of our labor and we are confronting the stigma of urban violence and changing the trajectory of the community who is not accountable to black women’s leadership on these issues.
